Island Careers in Computer Science and Astronomy

I am just sharing some detailed information about the TMT (not the TMNT) and ALMA.

When completed, the Thirty Meter Telescope (TMT) will be the most advanced and powerful optical telescope on Earth. This competes directly with the country of Chile’s economy.

The vast Atacama Large Millimeter/sub-millimeter Array (ALMA) telescope is currently touted as the largest ground-based astronomy project on the planet. Chile’s ALMA array consists of 66 12-meter (39 feet), and 7-meter (23 feet) diameter radio telescopes observing at millimeter and sub-millimeter wavelengths specifically at wavelengths of 0.3 to 9.6 mm.

Hopefully some of you find this interesting enough to explore computer science as a degree, possible minor in Astronomy, and career path.

I am a technologist with a strong background in software engineering. I have many interests. My current distractions are 70s-80s-90s music [it's a very eclectic collection], ontology, information architecture, mobile device technology, medical bioinformatics, artificial intelligence, and nanorobotics.
